New Iberia – Louisiana State Police Troop I is investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian in Iberia Parish.
Shortly after 10:30 a.m. on January 11, 2026, troopers responded to a crash scene on Louisiana Highway 86 near Suard Road. The crash claimed the life of 66-year-old Russell Green of New Iberia.
The preliminary investigation indicates that Green was walking along Louisiana Highway 86 when he was struck by an unknown vehicle traveling in an unknown direction. The vehicle fled the scene after the collision. Troopers believe the crash occurred sometime between approximately 10:40 p.m. on January 10, 2026, and the time authorities were notified the following morning.
Green sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. A standard toxicology sample was collected and submitted for analysis. The investigation remains ongoing.
