Suspect Wanted for Second Degree Murder in New Iberia

The New Iberia Police have identified a suspect in a shooting that took place on Saturday. NIPD Detectives have obtained warrants Trevonta Johnlouis age 28. Johnlouis faces charges of second degree murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to the New Iberia Police Department, they were notified of an individual with a gunshot wound at Iberia Medical Center. Not long after arriving at the hospital, NIPD officers were notified the 43-year-old male victim had succumbed to his injuries.

The incident occurred on Fontelieu Drive near the intersection of Mink Street in New Iberia on Saturday, May 18th.
