Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet has announced the arrest of Ronald Joseph Armond Jr., 31, of Morgan City, in connection with a residential burglary reported Thursday afternoon in the Exeter Run community.

At approximately 4:00 p.m., deputies were dispatched to a residence on Exeter Run after the homeowner returned to find an unknown male individual on the property. The suspect fled the scene on foot. Upon conducting an inspection of the residence, the homeowner discovered evidence indicating that the suspect had unlawfully entered the dwelling and removed multiple items.

Members of the TPSO Criminal Patrol Division quickly responded to the area and located an individual matching the description provided by the homeowner near the intersection of Exeter Run and LA Hwy 311. The subject was identified as Ronald Joseph Armond Jr.

A search conducted incident to the investigation revealed that Armond was in possession of a backpack containing items believed to have been stolen from the residence. The homeowner was contacted and subsequently confirmed the items as his property.

During questioning, Armond initially denied involvement but later admitted to entering the residence and taking the items. Investigators also discovered that he was wanted on an active arrest warrant issued by Assumption Parish in an unrelated case.

Armond was taken into custody and charged with Simple Burglary of an Inhabited Dwelling, in addition to the outstanding warrant. He was transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he remains incarcerated on a $50,000 bond set by local judges.

Sheriff Soignet credited the prompt actions of responding deputies and the detailed information provided by the homeowner for the timely resolution of the case.

“The rapid response of our patrol deputies and the detailed information provided by the homeowner made all the difference in bringing this case to a swift resolution,” Sheriff Soignet stated. “We remain committed to protecting our neighborhoods and ensuring accountability for those who compromise the safety of our residents.”

All arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
