Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon announced the arrest of Rontaj Dontrell Kelson, 19, of Labadieville, on felony charges related to the operation of a stolen motor vehicle.
According to authorities, the vehicle in question had been reported stolen in the Lake Charles area. On Tuesday morning, deputies received information from the Lake Charles Police Department indicating that the stolen vehicle had been tracked to Assumption Parish.
Acting on the tip, deputies located the vehicle on Violet Street in Labadieville. Upon investigation, they confirmed that the vehicle was indeed the one reported stolen. The driver, identified as Rontaj Dontrell Kelson, was taken into custody.
Kelson was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on a charge of Illegal Possession of Stolen Things. He remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.
