St. Mary Parish Sheriff Gary Driskell advises that over the last 24-hour reporting period, the Sheriff’s Office responded to 62 complaints and reports the following arrests:
Courtland Fullwood, 17, Patterson, LA, was arrested on July 31, 2025, at 9:52 pm for principal to attempted second degree murder (three counts).
At approximately 11:21 PM on Saturday evening, August 2, 2025, deputies with the St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Cane Street in Bayou Vista in response to a report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, deputies learned that three victims had been struck by gunfire. The individuals were transported to a local hospital for treatment. The area was secured, and SMPSO detectives are actively investigating the incident.
As the investigation progressed, detectives developed Fullwood as being involved in the incident. A warrant was obtained for Fullwood for the charge of principal to second-degree murder.
On August 5, 2025, detectives made contact with Fullwood and transported him to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Bail was set at $500,000. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Jason Paul Ackman, 41, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on August 5, 2025, at 3:15 pm for driving while intoxicated, reckless operation-no accident, and open container. Bail has not been set at this time.
