The St. Mary Parish Public School District is honoring the life and legacy of Mr. Roland H. Verret, a longtime educator, respected leader, and dedicated advocate for public education who faithfully served the students and families of St. Mary Parish for more than three decades.
Mr. Verret began his distinguished 31-year career as a middle school teacher in Amelia and Morgan City before joining the Central Office, where he held numerous key administrative roles. His positions included Supervisor of Instruction, Supervisor of Adult Education, English Coordinator for Junior and Senior High Schools, Social Studies Supervisor, Supervisor of Transportation, and Supervisor of Personnel.
Even after his retirement, Mr. Verret’s commitment to education never wavered. His continued passion for helping students succeed led him to serve multiple terms on the St. Mary Parish School Board, representing District 11. In that role, he remained a steadfast advocate for student achievement, educator support, and the advancement of quality public education across the parish.
Mr. Verret will be remembered as a tireless champion for students, teachers, and the entire St. Mary Parish community. The district extends its sincere condolences to his family and loved ones and expresses profound gratitude for his lifetime of service. His leadership, compassion, and dedication will continue to inspire future generations.
