During their meeting Wednesday night, theSt. Mary Hospital Service District 2 (HSD) Board of Commissioners in Morgan City, Louisiana, decided to delay the upcoming fall voter propositions related to community investment for Ochsner St. Mary. As a result, these propositions will not appear on the October 14 voter ballot.
The HSD is collaborating with Ochsner Health to create and execute a comprehensive long-term plan that addresses the needs of the local community. By postponing the propositions, both parties have the opportunity to realign their goals, participate in regular meetings, and cooperatively plan a community outreach campaign.
Dr. William Cefalu, HSD Board Chairman, expressed the importance of delaying the referendum for developing an in-depth plan that caters to both current and future community needs. Community involvement and support are key factors in determining future hospital services, and HSD and Ochsner will work together to offer multiple avenues for feedback and dialogue.
As part of this process, Dr. Cefalu will address a joint Kiwanis-Rotary meeting on August 25 in Morgan City, where he will elaborate on the services provided by Ochsner St. Mary and offer more information on HSD’s plans.
