TERREBONNE PARISH, La. (October 9, 2025) – Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet says a multi-agency search and rescue operation is underway for a fisherman who reportedly fell overboard from a commercial vessel Wednesday evening.
The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office is working alongside the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries and the U.S. Coast Guard to locate the missing man. Authorities were alerted shortly after 6 p.m. on October 8 to reports that a male individual had fallen into the water roughly one mile off the Terrebonne Parish coast.
Emergency crews from multiple agencies responded immediately and launched coordinated search efforts that continued overnight and into Thursday. Members of the United Cajun Navy joined the mission early Thursday morning, offering additional manpower and specialized equipment to assist with the search.
Officials have not released the name of the missing fisherman, pending further investigation and notification of family.
Sheriff Soignet thanked all responding agencies for their dedication and teamwork, emphasizing that his office remains committed to doing everything possible to bring the missing man home.
