December 21, 1964 – February 10, 2022
Rhonda Marie Hidalgo, a longtime resident of Youngsville, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 57 surrounded by her loving family and friends on the evening of Thursday, February 10, 2022, following a four year battle with end-stage COPD.
Rhonda was born in Franklin on December 21, 1964, an early Christmas present and youngest of three children born to Sonny and Sherry Hidalgo. She was raised for most of her youth in Morgan City until her senior year of high school when her family moved back to Franklin. She graduated in 1982 from Hanson Memorial High School and went on to Cosmetology School. Rhonda worked for many years as a Cosmetologist, eventually opening her own salon, On Angel’s Wings. An animal lover at heart, she enjoyed raising and breeding German Shepherds as well as horses. She also spent time on business ventures with her longtime companion, Karl, including their joint business venture, Angelic Rides. She had a loving and sweet nature, not to mention a beautiful smile that could light up the room. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Those she leaves to cherish her memory include her children, Mandi Borne Bucher and husband Steven of Youngsville, Ted Charles Borne, II, and his wife Michelle, of Youngsville, and Dylan Borne of Youngsville; her precious grandchildren, Carter Bucher, Maci Bucher, Colt Borne, Karlie Borne, and Rylan Borne; her father, Roland J. “Sonny” Hidalgo Jr.; her brother, Glen J. Hidalgo and his wife Gwen of Bayou Vista; and her niece, Heather Hidalgo Gros, her husband TJ, and their children Sport, Eli, and Trey Gros, of Broussard.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sherry Ann Talbot Hidalgo; her brother, Roland “Pete” Hidalgo; her longtime companion, Karl Romero; her maternal grandparents, Earl J. “Pete” Talbot and Hilder Adams Talbot; and her paternal grandparents, Roland J. Hidalgo Sr. and Bettye Watkins Hidalgo.
Services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville during a 1:00 p.m. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial. Fr. Joel Faulk will be the Celebrant for the Mass. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until Mass time. Interment will be held privately at a later date in the Franklin Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Rhonda’s doctors and their staff, as well as to her many friends, who were like family to her, and whom she loved and adored.
