The Port of Morgan City has been granted $3,320,000 by the U.S. Department of Transportation Maritime Administration (MARAD) as announced by Congressman Clay Higgins. The funds will be used for the purchase, delivery, and installation of cargo transloading equipment. As part of the United States Marine Highway Program, the port will acquire a 220-ton crane and a 25-ton forklift to enhance efficiency and safety in transportation services.
Higgins stated that this funding is significant for the economic growth in St. Mary Parish and supports the thriving maritime industry at the Port of Morgan City. During times of economic uncertainty, it is essential to maintain efficient operations at our ports to serve both the community and the nation.
