Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop C are investigating a fatal crash that occurred early Wednesday morning in Assumption Parish.
The crash happened shortly after 7:00 am on Highway 70, between Leonie Street and Veteran’s Park. A section of the roadway remains closed as troopers continue their on-scene investigation.
According to a Troop C Public Information Officer Henry Perez, the crash involved a box truck and a pickup truck. Preliminary details indicate the box truck crossed the center line and struck the pickup head-on. The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene. The driver of the box truck sustained serious injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the name of the victim pending notification of family members.
