On Thursday morning, at 8:15 am, Jamie Lynn Ruffin (47) from Sycamore Dr., Westwego, LA was apprehended on charges of simple kidnapping, interfering with child custody, and a warrant regarding domestic abuse battery.

On Wednesday night, the Morgan City Police Department started an investigation into a missing 11-year-old boy, taken from his legal guardian’s home by non-custodial parent, Jamie Ruffin. Reports indicate that Ruffin visited the child at the residence before abducting him without permission. Local authorities and media received descriptions of both Ruffin and the juvenile to aid in their search.

On November 16th, a tip led Morgan City Police Department’s Detective Division to a possible location for Ruffin. Video surveillance and the information guided investigators to a hotel on Hwy 182 in Morgan City. Officers found Ruffin and the juvenile inside a room there. Ruffin was arrested and taken to the police department for booking and detention. The child was unharmed and safely returned to his legal guardian.
