JEANERETTE, La. — A coordinated law enforcement operation along Martin Luther King Drive led to multiple arrests following an investigation into illegal narcotics activity and violent crime in the community.
The Jeanerette Police Department executed search warrants at three locations on March 25, 2026, with assistance from the Franklin Police Department, Baldwin Police Department, and the Jeanerette City Marshal’s Office.
Authorities say the operation stemmed from ongoing complaints and an active investigation into suspected criminal activity in the area.
As a result of the searches, four individuals were arrested:
Evanderus Farrier, 25, of Jeanerette is charged with:
Aggravated Second Degree Battery
Failure to Seek Assistance
Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I Narcotics (Marijuana)
Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
Violation of Controlled Dangerous Substance Law (Drug-Free Zones)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Keeping a Disorderly Place
Jerrell Lewis, 23, of Jeanerette is charged with:
Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I Narcotics (Marijuana)
Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Violation of Controlled Dangerous Substance Law (Drug-Free Zones)
Michael Williams Jr., 34, of Jeanerette is charged with:
Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I Narcotics (Marijuana)
Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Violation of Controlled Dangerous Substance Law (Drug-Free Zones)
Shon Derek Alexander, 21, of Jeanerette is charged with:
Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I Narcotics (Marijuana)
Illegal Carrying of Weapons in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Violation of Controlled Dangerous Substance Law (Drug-Free Zones)
Officials say the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected.
The case will be forwarded to the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office, as well as the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Louisiana for potential federal prosecution.
Jeanerette Police Chief Terrance Moore, Sr. thanked assisting agencies and officers for their work, noting the operation is part of the department’s new “Operation Safe Streets” initiative aimed at reducing crime and improving public safety.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
