Baton Rouge, LA – Governor Jeff Landry has appointed Morgan City Harbor & Terminal District Executive Director Raymond “Mac” Wade to the Louisiana Ports and Waterways Investment Commission. Along with Wade, Landry appointed 13 other public officials and business leaders from throughout the state to the Commission. Landry’s office said the Commission will serve as an advocate for all of the state’s ports and waterways investment interests, articulating a vision for the future through the development of a strategic plan and investment program.
In a statement released to KQKI News Wednesday afternoon, Wade said, “As the state looks for ways to improve funding for port projects, I believe I can provide a unique perspective on behalf of our coastal ports. As executive director of the Port of Morgan City which serves as a non-federal sponsor for the Atchafalaya River and Bayous Boeuf, Black and Chene federally-authorized project, I am familiar with the process necessary to provide a navigable channel for industry. Additionally, within our port district, our companies provide for national defense projects which is very different from ports on the Mississippi River that handle containers and bulk commodities.
