The Morgan City Police Department has revealed a new patrol unit dedicated to raising awareness about domestic violence. Police Chief Chad M. Adams invited representatives from Chez Hope, a local organization that supports domestic violence victims, to attend the unveiling ceremony.
Featuring a purple ribbon decal that symbolizes domestic violence awareness, the newly marked patrol unit carries a strong message: “Stop Domestic Violence!” The initiative coincides with October’s Domestic Violence Awareness Month, when advocates across the nation focus on addressing this pervasive issue.
The National Coalition Against Domestic Violence reports that nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by their intimate partners in the United States, totaling more than 10 million victims annually.
Based in Franklin, Chez Hope serves as a support hub for domestic violence victims in the region. Anyone in need of assistance can contact their 24/7 hotline at (337) 828-4200. Chez Hope provides vital services to help victims escape abusive situations and break the cycle of violence.
Their work benefits St. Mary, Assumption, Iberia, and St. Martin Parishes, covering areas such as Franklin, Morgan City, Napoleonville, Jeanerette, New Iberia, Loreauville, Breaux Bridge, and St. Martinville. To learn more about Chez Hope and their mission, visit www.chezhope.org.
Chief Chad M. Adams and the Morgan City Police Department extend their gratitude to Chez Hope and its staff for their ongoing commitment to supporting not only Morgan City residents but also those in St. Mary Parish and surrounding areas.
