The Morgan City Police Department recently published their comprehensive statistics on accidents, traffic tickets, and arrests for the month of June 2023. A total of 20 accidents were investigated during the month, with one pedestrian suffering injuries and no fatal accidents reported. The department also issued 279 traffic tickets, including those resulting from accident investigations.
In June, the department handled 1,449 complaints, with 84 being attended to by the City Police. Juveniles and mental patients were also handled by various agencies, including the State Police and Sheriff’s Office. The report noted that some prisoners fell under charges from multiple agencies or offenses.
For the month, city prisoners accrued 480 days served at a cost of $9,120.00 ($19.00 per day), whereas state prisoners served 201 days costing $3,216.00 ($16.00 per day). The expenses associated with other prisoners were not specified in the report.
The Morgan City Police Department made a total of 96 arrests during June, with carryovers included, bringing the overall total to 120 arrests. Chief Chad M. Adams authorized the report’s release.
From June 1st to June 30th, numerous traffic violations were recorded within Morgan City’s jurisdiction. Some examples are two instances of driving above maximum speed limits, four cases of allowing dogs to roam uncontrolled, 27 motorists found driving without proper licenses, and one incident of using wireless telecommunications devices while driving for texting or social networking purposes.
