As the 90th Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival begins on Thursday August 28, 2024 and will continue through Labor Day, the Morgan City Police Department wants to remind citizens about the flow of traffic, parking around Lawrence Park, on-street parking, and road closures during the festival.
Vehicles will not be permitted to park around Lawrence Park. There will also be no flow of traffic around the park with the exception of vendors on Third Street and residents who live in that area.
Also be aware of the “No On-Street Parking” signs in and around the area of the festival grounds. Vehicles found to be in violation will be towed and cited.
Federal Avenue under the bridge between Greenwood Street and Brashear Avenue will be closed for traffic. Please use alternate routes to navigate around the festival area.
On Sunday at 3:00 pm, the Louisiana Shrimp and Petroleum Festival parade will begin. No one will be allowed to park on the street anywhere along the parade route which proceeds down Second Street to Everett Street to Sixth Street where it will end at Greenwood Street. Anyone parking along the parade route prior to this time will have their vehicles towed.
Sunday night at 9:00pm, the annual fireworks will blast into the sky over the Berwick Bay. Tune into KQKI 95.3 FM for synchronized music. The old bridge will not be available for viewing due to the construction work being done on the bridge.
