To ensure safe and efficient traffic flow after the 4th of July “Lake Jam” celebrations, the Morgan City Police Department has announced a Contra Flow Traffic Plan that will be implemented on Friday, July 4 8:45 pm starting with shutting down both lanes of traffic on LA 70. The fireworks display will begin 9:00 pm.
Immediately following the fireworks display at Lake End Park, traffic will flow South only at the Lake End Park Entrance. Traffic will form a double lane traveling South. Vehicles leaving Lake End Parkway (Old Judges Stand area) may travel East or West. (See map below)
Morgan City Police Department officers along with Morgan City Fire Department personnel will be directing traffic and traffic cones will be in place. Drivers are asked once they enter LA 70 to stay in either the right or left lane and do not switch lanes during contraflow.
The following roads will be closed during contra flow:
- Fig St. at La 70
- Veterans Blvd. at LA 70
- David Dr. at LA 70
The Morgan City Police Department says, “However you plan on spending this Independence Day, whether it’s a backyard BBQ or at one of our destinations throughout this community, we want you to do so safely and responsibly. If you plan on drinking, please have a designated driver to get you home. Be aware of the extreme heat and properly hydrate throughout the day. Chief Chad M. Adams and the Morgan City Police Department wishes everyone a very safe and happy 4th of July!”
The annual City of Morgan City Lake Jam will begin with a decorated boat parade at 3:00 pm with judging at 4:00 pm in front of the new pavilion. Prizes will be awarded for the top three best decorated boats. To register for the boat parade, call Vanessa Spinella at the Morgan City Municipal Auditorium at 985-380-4639.
Live music will begin under the pavilion at 3:00 pm with Swampland Revival until 6:00 pm, followed by Kings of Neon from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Lake Jam 2025 also features several food and beverage vendors, a Kids Zone with wet inflatables, culminating with the annual Patriotic Fireworks Display over Lake Palourde.
Those who wish to attend Lake Jam by boat or RV may listen to the live music from under the pavilion by tuning their radio to 87.9 FM in conjunction with KQKI 95.3 FM. You may listen to the music on your radio anywhere in the Lake End Park vicinity.
KQKI is also the exclusive radio station to air the patriotic soundtrack that will be synchronized to the fireworks. You may listen to the soundtrack on KQKI 95.3 FM or gather around the pavilion where the music will be played through the sound system. The soundtrack will also air on 87.9 FM for those listening in their boat and RV. Our live coverage of the fireworks is presented by your local Taco Bell Restaurants and Tiger Island Hardware.
