Morgan City Man Arrested for Attempted-Second Degree Murder

Juan Alejandro Espinoza-Barrow, 29, Morgan City, LA, was arrested on June 18, 2023, at 3:56 pm for attempted second-degree murder, criminal damage to property, and illegal use of weapons or dangerous instruments.

On Sunday, June 18, 2023, deputies responded to a residence on Lonely Oak Lane in Bayou Vista in response to a complaint of gunshots. Upon arrival, deputies spoke with a complainant who stated that a man pulled up in a vehicle behind their vehicle and fired a gun several times, striking the complainants vehicle and residence.

Deputies began an investigation, gathered evidence, and subsequently developed Espinoza-Barron as the suspect.

The Patrol Division was briefed and provided with the description of the suspect and his vehicle. At approximately 9:00 am, a deputy patrolling Bayou Vista observed a vehicle matching the description traveling west on LA Highway 182. The deputy conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, identified as Espinoza-Barrow.

As the investigation progressed, Espinoza-Barrow was taken into custody and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking.

Bail has been set at $160,000.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty.
