At approximately 1:10 pm, Morgan City High School had to be evacuated after a bomb threat was reported to the local police. The threat was later determined to have originated from a robocall system. Law enforcement officials have since declared that the threat was baseless. Students and teachers were allowed to return to their classrooms.

Nearby schools, including Wyandotte, Maitland, M.E. Norman, and Morgan City Junior High Schools, were put on alert for about 20 minutes as a precaution. This extra caution was taken while local police investigated the situation at Morgan City High School.

St. Mary Parish Officials emphasized that they treat all rumors, threats, or any mentions of potential threats with the utmost seriousness. They urge people to remember that interfering with the normal functioning of a school day can result in severe consequences. For St. Mary Parish Schools, safety remains their top priority.
