A mobile home in Centerville is a total loss after a fire just after midnight. Centerville Volunteer Fire Department and Franklin Fire Department were dispatched to a structure fire in the 300 block of Prairie Road North on Tuesday morning at 12:29 am.

The first unit that arrived on scene advised of the mobile home that was fully engulfed in fire. Patterson Volunteer Fire Department was then called to provide mutual aid. Firefighters began fire suppression efforts and brought the fire under control in an hour and a half.

The residence was unoccupied and the cause remains under investigation. There were no injuries reported. The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office and Acadian Ambulance remained on standby.

Local firefighters have been kept busy since last week with several major fires including a fatal RV fire in Amelia on Friday, a tank battery fire just south of Centerville on Thursday, and two structure fires within hours of each other in Berwick and Morgan City on Labor Day weekend.
