Michael John Petitfils, affectionately known as Mike, passed away unexpectedly at his home at the age of 60 on Monday, August 7, 2023.
Mike was born in Franklin on November 28, 1962 and was the youngest of three children born to Fetch and Jenny Petitfils. In his early years Mike worked in the family business, Petitfils’ Hardware in Baldwin until going to work in the HVAC and Electrical industries. Mike also had a love of music and was gifted with the talent of being able to play just about any instrument he picked up, to the amazement of many music store employees. He especially loved playing his guitar and played with many local bands throughout the years. He also had a passion for fishing, spending time at the camp, and enjoyed the beauty of nature. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to have known him.
Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his children, Dylan M. Petitfils and Caitlin A. Petitfils; his sister, Marsha P. Colley; his nephew, Thomas Colley and his wife Michele and their children, Rosemarie, Jack, and Brynne; his niece, Marcie C. Boudreaux and her husband David and their children, Buddy and Ava; and his former wife, Kellie C. Petitfils.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Ferdinand John “Fetch” Petitfils Jr. and Genevieve Viguerie “Jenny” Petitfils; and his brother, Frank John Petitfils.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton during a 12:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial. Following the Mass, he will be laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Michael DeBlanc will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 15th, at Ibert’s Mortuary in Franklin from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with the recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM. Visiting hours will continue Wednesday morning at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until Mass time.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Dylan Petitfils, Thomas Colley, Jack Colley, David Boudreaux, Buddy Boudreaux, and William “Ollie” Ware. Honorary psllbearers will be Earl “Butch” Bailey, Michael Williams, and Robbie Mason.
