Marine Corps League St Mary Detachment 600 Honors Chitimacha Tribal Police Sergeant with 2025 Officer of the Year Award Posthumously

[Charenton, LA] – The Chitimacha Tribal Police Department is proud to announce that Sergeant Sara Labiche, who passed away on March 1, 2025, has been posthumously awarded the Marine Corps League St Mary Detachment 600 2025 Officer of the Year, in recognition of her service, dedication, and sacrifice to the department and the community over the years.
Sergeant Labiche served with honor for over 30 years at the Chitimacha Tribal Police Department, demonstrating unwavering commitment to duty, integrity, and compassion.
“Sergeant Labiche was a pillar of the Chitimacha Tribal Police Department, and her passing has been felt by all of us at the department and within our community,” said Chief Trahan. “Though she is no longer with us, her legacy is felt in the hearts of all those who crossed paths with Sara over the years.”
The award was presented by the Marine Corps League St Mary Detachment 600 at their annual ceremony honoring Law Enforcement across St Mary Parish on June 10, 2025. Chief Trahan would like to thank the Marine Corps League St Mary Detachment 600 for their continued support and acknowledgment of hard work by Law Enforcement Officers across the parish.
