On Saturday, September 21, LDWF enforcement agents arrested Brian Bonin, 43, and Antoine Bonin Jr., 45, for multiple violations in the St. Mary Parish portion of the Attakapas Wildlife Management Area.

Brian Bonin faces charges for DWI, violating frogging regulations, not following wildlife management regulations, and failing to comply with hand tiller cutoff lanyard rules. Antoine Bonin Jr. was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and similar wildlife violations.

The men were found shining a spotlight while operating a vessel with frogs aboard. During a compliance check, agents reportedly discovered a loaded .22 rifle and methamphetamine in Antoine’s possession. Both were booked into the St. Mary Parish Correctional Facility.

LDWF reminded the public that Louisiana’s DWI laws apply to vessels and vehicles alike, with penalties for first offenses reaching up to $1,000 in fines and six months in jail.
