IBERIA PARISH, La. — An 18-year-old Jeanerette man was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Iberia Parish late Tuesday night.
Louisiana State Police Troop I responded to the crash on Louisiana Highway 674 near Cherri Lane shortly before midnight on January 28, 2026.
According to the preliminary investigation, a 2013 Cadillac XTS, driven by Jailon Rhine, 18, of Jeanerette, was traveling eastbound when it collided head-on with a 2015 Ford F-350 traveling westbound.
Rhine was properly restrained but suffered serious injuries in the crash. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Ford F-350, who was also properly restrained, sustained serious injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
State Police say routine toxicology samples were collected from both drivers as part of the ongoing investigation. The cause of Troopers are reminding motorists to remain alert, avoid distractions, and never drive while impaired or fatigued
