Houma Police Arrest Woman in Overnight Shooting Incident

Houma, La. – The Houma Police Department is investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning, resulting in one person being injured and a suspect taken into custody.

On December 7, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a residence on Memory Lane in reference to a shooting. When officers arrived, they found an individual suffering from a gunshot wound to the left arm. Officers immediately secured the scene and detained the suspected shooter, who remained on-site.

The victim received medical aid at the scene and was transported to a local medical facility for further treatment.

During the investigation, detectives learned that the incident stemmed from a domestic dispute that escalated into violence. Evidence and witness interviews revealed that the suspect fired a weapon during the altercation, striking the victim.

The suspect was identified as Shaniqua Oliver, 32, who was arrested without incident and booked into the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a charge of Attempted Second Degree.
