Hazel Lancon Mora passed away peacefully at the age of 93 in the early afternoon hours of Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Legacy of Franklin Nursing Center. Hazel was born in Patoutville on April 27, 1931 and was one of thirteen children born to the union of Ovide and Letecia Lancon.
Hazel is survived by her son, Howard Mora Jr. and his wife Lois; her granddaughter, Tricia M. Mestayer and her husband Randy; her step-granddaughters, Candy Marcotte and Rebecca Marcotte; her great grandchildren, Kira Mestayer and Hilari LeBlanc and her husband Nate; her brother, Roy Lancon; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard George Mora Sr.; her parents, Ovide J. Lancon Sr. and Letecia Theriot Lancon; her 11 siblings, Elvonia Dooley, Claude Lancon, Lionel Lancon, Clay Lancon, Leona Mareno, Blanche Nicolosi, Rita Lois Daigrepont, Ovide Lancon Jr., Alice Lancon, Mary Telotta, and Albert Lancon; and her beloved Pomeranian, Sammy.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed Friday, June 28th, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charenton from 11:00 AM until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM. Following the Mass she will be laid to rest in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery Mausoleum. Father Michael DeBlanc will be the Celebrant for the Mass and conduct the services. Those honored to serve as pallbearers include her son, Howard Mora Jr., Randy Mestayer, O’Neil Darden Jr., Addison Darden, Billy Mora, and Nate LeBlanc.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff of Legacy of Franklin Nursing Center and ACG Hospice for the wonderful care given to Ms. Hazel in her time of need.
