The qualifying period for the upcoming Oct. 14 Gubernatorial Primary Election is scheduled for Tuesday, Aug. 8 to Thursday, Aug. 10. Local and municipal candidates must register with their local clerk of court at the St. Mary Parish Clerk of Court Office, located on the 2nd floor where they are registered to vote, between 8 am and 4:30 pm.

State office candidates are required to qualify at the Louisiana State Archives, found at 3851 Essen Lane in Baton Rouge. The secretary of state’s office operates from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily. It is recommended that candidates confirm specific parish hours with their local clerk of court.

In compliance with Act 312 of the 2020 Regular Session and Act 35 of the 2022 Regular Session, all qualifying candidates must provide an email address and a valid Louisiana driver’s license or identification card.
