The Franklin Police Department responded to 8 complaints over the past 24 hours and made the following arrests:
On February 6, 2023, at approximately 4:44 PM, the Franklin Police Department received several calls of possible shots fired in the area of Martin Luther King Boulevard and First Street. Upon arrival, officers located a subject that was popping fireworks.
Deshawn Granger, 33, of Martin Luther King Blvd., was issued a citation on February 6, 2023, at 5:12 PM, for fireworks in city limits. Granger was released to appear in Third Ward City Court.
Michael Morris, Jr., 24, of Talbot St., Franklin, LA, was arrested on February 6, 2023, at 5:37 PM, on a warrant for 15th Judicial District Court for failure to appear on the charges of attempted first degree murder and armed robbery. Morris was additionally arrested on the charges of resisting an officer with force – 5 counts and simple criminal damage to property – 2 counts. Morris was booked, processed, and transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center.
