Dorothy Pellegrin Kelly, a native of Plaquemine & Bayou Sorrel and a longtime resident of Bayou L’Ourse, was called to her heavenly home on Monday, September 9, 2024 at the age of 79.

Dorothy, a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, was a devoted member of Bayou L’Ourse Baptist Church, where her strong faith and commitment to Christ were central to her life. Education was also a significant part of her journey; she spent over 12 years teaching at Faith Baptist School in Bayou Vista and was actively involved in Vacation Bible School. Married for 48 years, Dorothy and her husband Herbert shared a deep bond, having exchanged vows at Northside Baptist Church in Plaquemine. Beyond her faith and family, Dorothy had a range of passions, including watching Little House on the Prairie, and collecting bells and angels. Her cherished collection of angels now fills many cabinets in her beloved home in Bayou L’Ourse. She and her loved ones will forever remember the Dugas family and children whom Dorothy was raised side by side with.

Those left to cherish Dorothy’s beautiful memory is her husband, Herbert Joseph Kelly; her sister, Irma Bethel; her children, Steven Kelly and his wife, Melody, of Bayou L’Ourse, Kevin Kelly of Bayou L’Ourse, Dwayne Kelly and his wife, Denise, of Florida, Leasha Walters and her husband, Roger, of Bayou L’Ourse, Johnnie Troulliet and her husband, Anthony, of Morgan City and Matthew Kelly of Ricohoc; 17 grandchildren, Amber and her husband, Justin, Ashleigh and her husband, William, Amy and her husband, Josh, Bethanie-Lee, Khristinie and her husband, Shane, Kourtenie and her husband, Ronnie, Korey, Bradley, Ciara, Matthew, Noah, John, Ivy, Blaze, Ciara, and Kade; and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nolton and Viola Pellegrin and her daughter, Bridget Randall; and two brothers, David Lee Pellegrin and George Pellegrin.

The family requests that a time of visitation and remembrance be observed on Sunday, September 15, 2024 from 2pm until time of services on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Hargrave Funeral Home. Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held on Monday, September 16, 2024 at 11am at Hargrave Funeral Home. Following the services, Dorothy will be laid to rest in the Morgan City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dorothy’s name to the Baptist Children’s Home in Monroe.
