Clyde Joseph Breaux passed away at the age of 86 during the morning hours of Thursday, July 10, 2025, at his home in Breaux Bridge.

Clyde was born and raised on Katy Plantation in Franklin on October 13, 1938, and was the eldest of five children born to Elton and Annie Mae Breaux. He was a 1956 graduate of Franklin High School and a veteran of the United States Army Louisiana National Guard. He married his high school sweetheart, Veronica Marin, on August 2, 1958, and were blessed with two daughters. Clyde retired from the Louisiana State Police in 1991with the rank of Lieutenant. Following retirement he went to work for Dynasty Trucking as a safety man and then with the 16th Judicial District Attorney’s Office in the Probation and Parole Division. He had an amazing green thumb and could grow and raise just about anything. He enjoyed the fruits of his labor as well as those of nature, crawfishing, crabbing, running jug lines, and shrimping, to name a few. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were fortunate to have known him.

Those he leaves to cherish his memory include his wife of nearly 67 years, Veronica “Ronnie” Marin Breaux; their two daughters, Lori B. Fuselier and her husband Mitchell, and Dawn B. Taylor and her husband Troy; five grandchildren, Brett Payton and his wife Amanda, Katelin Payton, Nicholas Taylor, Christian Taylor, and Zachary Taylor; three great grandchildren, Avery Beard, Maddox Payton, and Madelyn Payton; two sisters, Carolyn B. Robicheaux and Jackie Spangler and her husband Reid; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elton Paul Breaux and Annie Mae Guillotte Breaux; two brothers, Elton B. Breaux and Kearney E. Breaux; and his brother-in-law, Glenn Robicheaux.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Centerville during an 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Following the services, Clyde will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Father Joel Faulk will be the Celebrant of the Mass and conduct the services. Visitation will be held in the church beginning at 10:00 AM.
