Busy Saturday Night for First Responders with Five Accidents, Two Victims Sustain Critical Injuries

Two accident victims were transported by Acadian Air Med to out of area hospitals.

It was not the way first responders wanted to spend a Louisiana Saturday Night, with five vehicle accidents in St. Mary Parish that all occurred within an approximate four hour time span.

The first accident occurred at approximately 7:44 pm as the Morgan City Police Department received a call of a motorcycle striking a vehicle and losing control at the intersection of Brashear Avenue and Sixth Street. The motorcyclist was transported to an out of town hospital by Acadian Air Med due to their injuries.

At 10:11 pm, first responders were dispatched to an accident with injuries on Highway 87 nearly Websterville. Just 22 minutes later at 10:33 pm, District 11 Fire Department was  dispatched to a vehicle in a ditch in the 1800 block of Highway 318 near Sorrel. There was no report on injuries in the second accident.

15 minutes later at 10:48 pm, the Morgan City Police Department, Morgan City Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance were dispatched to a two-vehicle accident involving an overturned vehicle on Highway 90 between mile markers 179 and 180. One victim was transported to the hospital for their injuries.

Just two minutes later at 10:50 pm, the Berwick Police Department, Berwick Volunteer Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance were called to the scene of a crash involving a vehicle that struck a bicyclist at the intersection of Highway 182 and Patti Drive. The bicyclist was transported to Ochnser St. Mary and then to an out of area hospital by Acadian Air Med due to serious injuries sustained in the crash.

As of Sunday evening, there have been no additional details released in any of the crashes, including updates on the victims’ conditions.
