On January 27, 2024, the Berwick Police Department apprehended two individuals responsible for a series of crimes in the town. Kale David, a 27-year-old male from Berwick, and Sabastian Newsom, a 19-year-old male from the same area, were taken into custody at approximately 6:42 PM.
The charges against David included two counts of simple criminal damage to property, three counts of simple assault, and a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. On the other hand, Newsom faced two charges of simple criminal damage to property, three charges of simple assault, and a warrant for reckless operation.
The initial reports were received by the Berwick Police Department around 3:50 PM, as residents across town filed numerous complaints regarding broken windows. It was soon established that the incidents were connected, involving rocks being thrown from a moving vehicle. Additionally, some juveniles reported being threatened by masked individuals in a vehicle equipped with a slingshot.
Officers quickly gathered descriptions of the vehicle and obtained surveillance footage from various sources. Through their investigation, they were able to identify the vehicle and locate it on Fourth Street. Upon making contact, David and Newsom were found to have active warrants and were placed under arrest.
A search warrant was obtained for the residence on Fourth Street, leading to the discovery of further evidence linking David and Newsom to the crimes. Eventually, both individuals confessed to their involvement.
Following their arrest, David and Newsom were transported to the Berwick Police Department, where they were booked on the aforementioned charges.
