Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrests:
Kenneth Rhodes W/M 22 Saturn Rd. Morgan City was arrested on August 24, 2022 at 11:53 AM for
- WARRANT- DISTURBING THE PEACE BY FIGHTING
On August 24, 2022 at 11:53 AM Rhodes turned himself into the Berwick Police Department for an active warrant he had for his arrest. Rhodes was placed under arrest for the charge of Disturbing the Peace by Fighting and was released on a summons to appear in court in October. The warrant stems from an incident on August 20, 2022 where Rhodes was involved in a physical altercation with another subject.
Andres Ramos H/M 52 Cypress St. Franklin was arrested on August 25, 2022 at 01:13 AM for
- DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED 1ST OFFENSE (REFUSAL)
- POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA (UNDER 14 GRAMS)
- OPEN CONTAINER
- TWO HEADLIGHTS REQUIRED
On August 25, 2022 at approximately 00:39 hrs. an officer in the area of US Hwy. 90 observed a vehicle with one headlight. A traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with Ramos. During the course of the stop, an odor of marijuana was detected coming from the vehicle and Ramos showed signs of impairment. A search of the vehicle was conducted where officers located Marijuana and several open alcoholic containers. Ramos performed poorly on field sobriety tests and was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department. Ramos refused to submit a breath sample and a search warrant was obtained to collect samples of his blood to determine his BAC. Ramos was booked on the charges of Driving While Intoxicated 1st Offense (Refusal), Possession of Marijuana (Under 14 Grams), Open Container, and Two Headlights Required. Ramos was released on a $5,000.00 bond to appear in court in November.
