Berwick Arrest Report 7-22-2024

Berwick Police Chief David Leonard Sr. reports the following arrests beginning from July 17, 2024:

Wednesday July 17, 2024

Dex Clements W/M 37 of Berwick was arrested on July 17, 2024 at 09:52 AM for

  • UNLAWFUL PRESENCE OF A SEX OFFENDER

In July 2024 the Berwick Police Department began receiving complaints of a registered sex offender living and being present near a prohibited area which is a school. An investigation was conducted and learned that Clements was the suspect in the matter. It was learned that Clements is a convicted sex offender for a Tier 1 offense which requires him to register yearly and prohibits him from being near certain places. On July 17, 2024 officers observed Clements at a residence which was within 50 ft. of a local school. Officers made contact with Clements and placed him under arrest. Clements was transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the above charge.

Thursday July 18, 2024

Jamie Driskill W/F 34 of Berwick was arrested on July 18, 2024 at 09:20 AM for

  • DISTURBING THE PEACE
  • THEFT (UNDER $1,000)

On July 18, 2024 at approximately 09:12 AM the Berwick Police Department responded to a residence for a verbal disturbance. Upon arrival officers made contact with Driskill and the complainant and learned that Driskill was present causing a disturbance. It was also learned through the course of the investigation that Driskill had taken some money from the complainant while at the residence. Driskill was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where she was booked on the above charges.

Friday July 19, 2024

Lance Terry W/M 40 of Patterson was arrested on July 19, 2024 at 11:05 PM for

  • POSSESSION OF SCHEDULE I CDS Marijuana (Under 14 Grams)

On July 19, 2024 at approximately 10:43 PM officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on US Hwy. 90 East. The vehicle’s speed was indicated to be 77 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. A traffic stop was conducted and officers made contact with Terry. While speaking with Terry, an odor of Marijuana was detected being emitted from the vehicle. During the course of the stop, Terry was found to be in possession of Marijuana. Terry was issued a citation for Speeding 77/55 and placed under arrest and released on a summons for the charge of Possession of Marijuana (Under 14 Grams).

Saturday July 20, 2024

Carson Daigle W/M 18 of Berwick was arrested on July 20, 2024 at 02:53 AM for

  • UNDERAGE DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED
  • CARELESS OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE WITH A CRASH

On July 20, 2024 at approximately 02:28 AM, officers in the area of US Hwy. 90, observed what appeared to be a two-vehicle crash. Officers began to investigate the matter and made contact with Daigle. During this time, it was learned that Daigle was distracted and crashed into a vehicle that was parked on the shoulder of the roadway. While speaking with Daigle impairment was detected. Daigle admitted to consuming alcoholic beverages and SFST tests were conducted which he performed poorly on. Daigle was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he submitted a valid breath sample of 0.094G% BAC. Daigle was then booked on the above charges.

Chase Bertrand W/M 38 of Patterson was arrested on July 20, 2024 at 2:57 PM for

  • MORGAN CITY WARRANT- FTA FOR SPEEDING

On July 20, 2024 at approximately 2:43 PM a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle for speeding 76 MPH in a 55 MPH zone. Officers made contact with the driver who was identified as Bertrand. While speaking with Bertrand, it was learned that his driver’s license was suspended and that he had an active warrant through the Morgan City Police Department. Bertrand was issued a citation for speeding and placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the active warrant.
