Berwick Police Chief David Leonard reports the following arrest:
George Frederick W/M 51 Juarez St. New Iberia was arrested on March 3,2021 at 09:22AM for
- POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
- FOLLOWING TOO CLOSE
- NO INSURANCE
- EXPIRED MVI
- FAILURE TO REGISTER VEHICLE
On March 3, 2021 at approximately 09:05 AM a traffic stop was conducted on a vehicle traveling on US Hwy 90 for following too close to other vehicles. Officers made contact with the driver Frederick who was advised for the reason of the stop. During the course of the stop, Frederick was found to be in possession of Marijuana. It was also learned that the vehicle did not have an active insurance policy or registration and the MVI was expired. Frederick was placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department where he was booked on the charges of Possession of Marijuana, Following Too Close, No Insurance, Expired MVI, and Failure to Register Vehicle. Frederick later posted a $3,000.00 bond.
Cynthia Metrejean W/F 32 11th St. Morgan CIty was arrested on March 3, 2021 at 11:26 PM for
- WARRANT- ASSUMPTION PARISH for FTA
Lee Pierce W/M 37 11th St. Morgan City was arrested on March 3, 2021 at 11:26 PM for
- POSSESSION OF SCH II METHAMPHETAMINE
- POSSESSION OF DRUG PARAPHERNALIA
- WARRANT- ST. MARY WARRANT FOR FTA
On March 3, 2021 at approximately 10:52 PM a vehicle was observed traveling on US Hwy. 90 East in the left lane and not actively passing vehicles. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and contact was made with Metrejean and Pierce. During the course of the stop, Pierce was found to be in possession of Methamphetamine and items of drug paraphernalia. A warrants check revealed that Metrejean had active warrants through the Assumption Parish Sheriffs Office and Pierce had active warrants through the St. Mary Parish Sheriffs Office. Both were placed under arrest and transported to the Berwick Police Department. Metrejean was booked on the Failure to Appear warrant and Pierce was booked on the charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a warrant for St. Mary Parish for Failure to Appear. Metrejean was released to Assumption Parish and Pierce awaits a bond.
