BAYOU L’OURSE, La. — Assumption Parish Sheriff Leland Falcon reports the arrest of a Bayou L’Ourse man following a domestic incident involving a juvenile Sunday evening.

David Lee Lodrigue, 46, of 135 Andras Street, was arrested on felony domestic charges stemming from an incident that occurred during a custodial visitation.

According to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, uniformed patrol deputies were dispatched to a residence on Napoleon Avenue in Napoleonville in reference to a juvenile complaint. Deputies made contact with the child’s mother, who reported she shares custody and visitation of the child, who is under the age of 15, with her estranged husband, identified as Lodrigue.

The mother stated the child had been in Lodrigue’s custody until the end of the visitation period Sunday evening. When she arrived at the Andras Street residence to retrieve the child, she reported hearing what she believed to be a disturbance between Lodrigue and the child.

After retrieving the child, the juvenile told deputies that Lodrigue struck her in the face with an open hand and placed his hands around her neck, causing symptoms consistent with suffocation.

Deputies located Lodrigue and took him into custody without incident.

Lodrigue was booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on the following charges:

Domestic Abuse Battery Involving Strangulation with Child Endangerment

Cruelty to Juveniles

Fugitive Warrant – St. Mary Parish – Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance

David Lee Lodrigue remains incarcerated pending a bond hearing.

All arrested persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
