On June 14, 2023, officers with the Morgan City Police Department responded to a local bank in the area of Victor II Blvd regarding a subject attempting to cash a check and was involved in suspicious activity inside of the bank.

Officers arrived and 22-year-old Tyler Damone Thierry, of Opelousas, was identified as the subject involved in the investigation. According to reports, bank officials were alerted to activity from other banks outside of the Morgan City Area of a subject who was attempting to cash a check that was believed to be fraudulent.

Reports indicate that Thierry entered the bank in Morgan City and attempted to cash a check. Thierry did not have an account with the bank and was given options on how to submit the check until it cleared, which he refused.
