Ardith Soprano, a beacon of creativity, faith, and humor, passed away surrounded by love. Ardith was a woman of immense talent, compassion, and dedication, leaving a permanent mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial service was held in honor of Ardith on Saturday, January 25th at 3:00 at the Chitimacha Recreation building.
A lifelong lover of musicals, movies, and the arts, Ardith expressed her boundless creativity through her passion for beadwork, crafting, and her cherished hobby horses and dolls. Her artistic talents extended to her garden, where she lovingly cultivated irises and other bulb plants, creating a vibrant sanctuary filled with beauty and life. Ardith’s green thumb and devotion to her plants reflected her nurturing spirit.
Ardith had an undeniable love for dogs and a heart that embraced everyone. As the Tribal Enrollment Director and Scholarship Coordinator for the tribe, she was instrumental in assisting tribal college students with their funding and community service to the tribe. Her unwavering commitment and exceptional work ethic earned the admiration and appreciation of all who knew her. Ardith’s calm demeanor, quick wit, and great sense of humor brought joy to those around her.
A woman of faith, Ardith’s prayer life was reflected in the way she lived each day with grace and resilience. She cherished quiet moments with a good thriller book, indulged in her favorite Baskin Robbins ice cream, and found joy in exploring the aisles of Tractor Supply and Old America.
Ardith is survived by her loving children; Carlie Chaumont and her husband Joshua, Lacey Fonseca and her husband Fernando; her three grandchildren, Avari Fonseca, Rya Soprano, Noah Dugas; her siblings, Mamie Soprano and her husband Michael, Willard Burgess and his wife Debbie, Clifford Burgess and his wife Marilyn, Bradford Burgess; as well as a host of extended family and friends whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 39 years, Anthony Soprano Jr.; her parents, Leroy and Dora Burgess; her parents-in-law, Anthony Sr. and Ruth Soprano.
