Albert James “Jim” Dulaney (1927-2023)
Bayou Vista, Louisiana – Albert James “Jim” Dulaney, a cherished pillar of his community, passed away peacefully in the embrace of his loved ones on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at the age of 96, in his cherished home in Bayou Vista.
A graveside service, dedicated to celebrating the life of Jim Dulaney, will be held at Ibert’s Memorial Park in Patterson, Louisiana, on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at 11:00 AM. The service will be officiated by Brother Eric Green.
Born in Wild Horse, Oklahoma, Jim’s journey led him to Healdton, Oklahoma, where he first began to leave an indelible mark on the world. In the crucible of World War II, he answered the call to duty and served valiantly on the USS The Sullivans Naval Destroyer, a testament to his unwavering dedication to his country.
After the war, Jim settled in Morgan City, Louisiana, and with steadfast determination, he planted deep roots in South Louisiana, dedicating over three decades of his life to Mobil Oil until his well-deserved retirement in 1986.
In 1947, he united in marriage with the love of his life, Lavada Clark, forming a partnership that endured through decades of joys and challenges. As a father, Jim’s love and guidance knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on his daughter, Jamie, who held him in the highest regard.
Jim was a man of service, a founding member and Deacon of Bayou Vista Baptist Church, and a dedicated member of the community. His generosity and kindness touched the lives of many, embodying the very essence of selflessness.
Albert James “Jim” Dulaney is survived by his adoring daughter, Jamie Dulaney; his cherished grandchildren, Frank DiNicola III, James DiNicola, Ian Dulaney, Chelsea Rhoades, and Keely Pippin; and his great-grandchildren, Roman DiNicola, Winnie DiNicola, Laney Pippin, and Gavin Dulaney. In addition to his immediate family, he leaves behind a vast network of extended family and friends who were recipients of his boundless love.
Jim is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lavada Dulaney; his son, Keith Dulaney; and his second wife, Eleanore Dulaney.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Jim’s honor to Bayou Vista Baptist Church, a place that held a special significance in his heart.
Jim’s legacy of love, dedication, and service will forever resonate in the hearts of those privileged to have known him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his beloved in the arms of the Divine.
