Watch Video of St. Mary Parish Police Pursuit Here
On Thursday evening, September 8, 2022, officers with the Broussard Police Department attempted to stop a 2017 Dodge Charger, white in color, that was reported stolen out of Frisco, Texas.
Later, an off-duty sheriff deputy with the Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office observed the vehicle and reported the location as the vehicle was crossing into St. Mary Parish, traveling at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
St. Mary Parish deputies located the vehicle near Garden City and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the vehicle continued traveling at a high speed. The vehicle continued on Highway 90 Eastbound, exiting at Berwick and crossing the Atchafalaya River on the Highway 182 bridge.
The vehicle’s driver was operating at a fast speed, until the vehicle was abandoned in Morgan City and the two subjects fled on foot.
The vehicle was recovered by deputies and processed. Video images of the two subjects were obtained as the investigation into the incident continues.
The St. Mary Parish Sheriff’s Office said, “We are thankful that although motorists were put into danger by the reckless manner in which this vehicle was driven into St. Mary Parish, nobody was injured.”
