A home in the 400 block of Ninth Street in Franklin sustained heavy damage as a result of a Sunday afternoon fire. Franklin and Centerville Fire Departments were dispatched at 2:07 pm in reference to a house on fire. The first engine was on scene within 2 minutes, locating a house with heavy black smoke coming from all sides and fire from a back bedroom. Fire crews made an aggressive attack on the fire and quickly brought it under control within 7 minutes of arrival. The fire was extinguished by 2:26pm. Three fire engines, a rescue truck and 14 firefighters responded to scene.
The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire, which has been deemed a total loss, and there were reported to civilians or firefighters. The American Red Cross has been contacted to assist the resident.
