Sheriff Craig Webre of Lafourche Parish reported the arrest of a second individual involved in an armed robbery that took place in July 2023, where the victims were enticed by a Facebook advertisement. On Tuesday, 21-year-old Blake Chiasson Jr. from Thibodaux was apprehended. Darius Walter, 20, also from Thibodaux, had been taken into custody on the day of the robbery.
Deputies were called to respond to an armed robbery in Thibodaux at 4:20 p.m. on July 28, 2023. An investigation revealed that a man and a woman went to Lindsey Street to meet with someone about a trailer advertised for sale on Facebook. Upon their arrival at the location, they were welcomed by a man who ushered them into the trailer for inspection. Inside one of the bedrooms, they were held at gunpoint by a masked individual who robbed them of a substantial amount of money and two cell phones. The victims managed to escape and contact authorities. Darius Walter was located and arrested shortly thereafter, charged with two counts of armed robbery using a firearm, and released on August 29, 2023 after posting $55,000 bail.
Detectives identified Chiasson as the second suspect in their ongoing investigation and secured an arrest warrant for him. On October 17, while patrolling near Ridgefield Road in Thibodaux, deputies spotted Chiasson and attempted to detain him. He tried to flee but was quickly apprehended by deputies.
Chiasson was incarcerated at Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex on two counts of armed robbery involving a firearm as stated in the arrest warrant. Additionally, he faces charges for resisting an officer. His bail has been set at $80,000.
