Terrebonne Parish, LA – On August 27, 2023, a two-vehicle head-on crash took place on Louisiana Highway 182 near Louisiana Highway 316, resulting in one death and eight injuries. Louisiana State Police Troop C started the investigation shortly after the incident occurred at around 7:00 p.m.
A yet-to-be-identified adult male lost his life in the accident, and his identity will be revealed once his family has been informed.
Preliminary findings showed that a 2007 Ford E-250 van driven by 62-year-old David Angbrant from Gibson was heading west on LA Hwy 182 when it collided with a 2020 Chevrolet Express van traveling east. The cause for the Ford crossing the centerline and hitting the Chevrolet head-on is still being investigated.
The Chevrolet’s driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Angbrant suffered severe injuries and was transported to a hospital in New Orleans for further treatment. The Chevrolet van had several passengers who were taken to nearby hospitals to receive care for their minor to moderate injuries. The details regarding their seating positions and seatbelt usage are still under review.
Toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis as part of standard procedure. The investigation into the accident is ongoing.
