The Morgan City Police Department arrested a 16-year-old male suspect on July 18, 2023, at 4:33 pm in connection with multiple burglaries in the Auburn Subdivision. The charges against the juvenile include two counts of simple burglary, attempted burglary, home invasion, access device fraud, possession of stolen property (two counts), and attempted theft.

Between July 11 and July 14, 2023, several burglaries were reported in the Auburn Subdivision area. Surveillance footage from some of the incidents showed a masked individual as the suspect. During one of the burglaries, a homeowner was present and barricaded themselves in a room while the suspect fled before police arrived.

Investigators identified the young male as a suspect when one of the victims’ credit cards was used at a local business. A search warrant was executed at the juvenile’s residence, where stolen items from one of the burglaries and evidence linking him to multiple cases were discovered.

The teen was booked in the Morgan City Jail and later transferred to an out-of-area juvenile facility. He is currently awaiting court proceedings through the Morgan City Juvenile Court.
