On April 10, 2023, Christen Hebert Brown was arrested following an investigation led by the Morgan City Police Department Detective Division regarding three overdose incidents, two of which resulted in deaths.

Detectives ultimately connected Brown to these overdoses, and the case was presented to the 16th Judicial District Attorneyโ€™s Office for prosecution. On September 16, 2025, Brown pled guilty to three counts of Failure to Render Aid, each carrying a five-year sentence.

With the recent rise in fentanyl-related deaths, the Morgan City Police Department is expanding its investigative efforts to include pursuing charges against drug dealers when their actions are directly linked to user fatalities.

While our thoughts and prayers remain with the families of those who lost loved ones, the Morgan City Police Department remains vigilant in seeking justice and protecting our community.
