Victim Identified In Boating Accident In Iberia Parish

A boating accident has claimed the life of a 35 year old man. The Iberia Parish Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Eric Delcambre.
Delcambre was killed after he fell from a vessel in the Avery Island Canal this past Sunday (03-08-2020).
Wildlife & Fisheries recovered Delcambre’s body around 8:30 pm Sunday night.
Delcambre was operating a 17-foot boat with three passengers when they began taking on water, which ejected all occupants into the canal according to authorities. Two passenger’s were able to swim to the bank, but Delcambre was not able to make it.
Authorites reported Delcambre’s body was recovered with no personal flotation device.
The Iberia Parish Sheriff’s Office aided with the search.
