Traffic Stop Leads To Seizure Of Crack Cocaine And Cash

Sheriff Blaise Smith advises that a traffic stop leads to seizure of crack cocaine and $1,342 in cash.
Nelson Lee Charles, Jr., 26, 127 Jones Road #2, Four Corners, LA, was arrested on May 1, 2020, at 3:30 am on the following charges:

• Improper lane usage
• Possession of Schedule II (crack cocaine) with intent to distribute
• Possession of schedule I (marijuana)
• Transactions involving drug proceeds

A deputy patrolling LA 318 near Inez street conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for improper lane use. The deputy made contact with the driver, identified as Charles. During the stop, the deputy observed drugs in the vehicle. Through the investigation, drugs and cash were located. Charles was transported to the St. Mary Parish Law Enforcement Center for booking. Charles was released on a $10,000 bond.
