Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest

On March 14,2020, Officers with the Jeanerette Police Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection on Pellerin and Peach Street. During the stop Officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana emitting from the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle gave consent to search at which time 22.3 grams of suspected marijuana was located in the center console of the vehicle along with a digital scale, .38 caliber revolver. Also located was $925 cash in various denominations.
Suspect Adrain Jenkins was placed under arrest and charged with stop sign violation, possession of a firearm in the presence of a cds, monies derived from drug transactions, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm in a firearm free zone.
