Sulphur Man Arrested 10 Times For DWI Since 1996

LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) – According to Louisiana State Police, a Sulphur man has been arrested for 3rd offense DWI after apparently striking a guardrail on the I-210 bridge.
According to Troop D, a State Police responding trooper saw a Ford F-150 in the middle of the roadway on the I-210 bridge around yesterday evening around 5 pm on Jan. 8, 2020.
Troopers identified the driver as, Mark D. Kratzer age 40, of Sulphur. Kratzer had struck the guardrail on I-210 several times before stopping in the middle of the road.
An eyewitness to the crash stopped to help and saw that Kratzer was not responsive. The witness then gave Kratzer CPR until medical personnel had arrived.
When troopers were able to speak to Kratzer,  it was obvious that he was impaired. Kratzer was then placed under arrest for careless operation and 3rd offense DWI, which is based on the number of times Kratzer has been convicted of DWI in the last ten years.
He was released to a local hospital for treatment.
According to State Police records, Kratzer has been arrested for DWI ten times since 1996.
